A few weeks ago I had a conversation with Naomi Burke-Shyne the Executive Director of Harm Reduction International (HRI), about the idea of using some of my photography on their social media accounts. The plan we came up with was me doing a takeover, which happened last week.
The only real guideline they gave me was that some of the images should be in line with their current focused work (prisons, OST, housing, and funding). Oh, and we agreed that the best option would be to focus on portraiture… after all during the COVID 19 lockdowns we all need that sense of connection that portraits give.
As I mentioned in my closing video, everyone who saw the images on HRI’s instagram saw them on a device with a camera, we need more people documenting the harm reduction work around the world, lets make sure we retain our history as it’s made.
Below you can see the images I shared during the weeklong takeover (click the images to see the associated text). I’d like to thank HRI for trusting me with their accounts and giving me the opportunity to showcase a small portion of my work.
