This August and September I’m going to be travelling to Australia to do some photography work (more details soon). I’m going to be visiting Melbourne and Sydney. So friends of mine in the Melbourne area have decided to put me to work delivering a couple of public talks on photography and activism.
Both of these events are free but booking is required as spaces are limited.
August 27: Look away – you don’t want to see this
I’ll be presenting about the use of photography to promote harm reduction focused overdose interventions and similar work around the world. A section of this will look at the impact of the ‘Look Away’ photo project. Includes some simple photography tips.
Craig Harvey will also be presenting at this event.
August 29: Photography exhibition and presentation
Sunbury Community Health will be having an exhibition featuring a number of my original prints of Harm Reduction Heroes. At the opening I will also be giving a presentation. I’ll be speaking about the importance of using (and keeping) photography to document the work of activist promoting harm reduction, or any other activist cause. I’ll be looking at the photograph as a historical document but also as a tool for further advocacy. Includes some simple photography tips.
While these presentations will be different from in other in terms of content there will be some overlap between the two, please keep this in mind of attending both presentations.
